Born from all-night sessions at the Musiquarium and Faire Gallery, Theoretics deep musicianship, diversity of sounds, and masterful lyrics, has enriched the Northwest for the past three years. The seven-man group features emcee/vocalists Mark Hoy and Chimaroke Abuachi, saxophonist Art Brown, guitarist Cameron Peace, keyboardist Ben Krulewich, bassist Birch Pereira, and drummer Adam Gross.
They released their debut self-titled album last year, supported by two highly-viewed music videos from the album; the anthemic “Higher” and the manic steampunk “Jekyll and Hyde.” Theoretics live performances are praised for the high energy showmanship of emcees Hoy and Abuachi and the unstoppable groove of the five live players. For this show, the group will showcase new material that points to the continuing evolution of the band’s sound, away from the Rap n’ Roll on Theoretics to more Electro-inspired beats and hooks.
Co-headlining is the band Eclectic Approach. Originally conceived as a hip-hop group, EA has expanded its musical horizons and fully embraced the name “Eclectic.” The band is comprised of vocalist Jowed Hadeed, guitarists Ryan Jander and Justin MacDonald, drummer Brian Paxton and bassist Seth Humphrey. All met throughout various stages of the seven year history of the band, but they ended up together in Seattle, marketing their unique vision of positive, gritty rock’n hop.
Having worked with well-known engineer and producer Justin Armstrong (Death Cab for Cutie, Dave Matthews) on their latest album, “Jump Into Life,” EA now has a record that matches their live shows’ intensity and sonic clarity. It also captures their sense of humor and shows that the band is capable of taking audiences through a roller coaster of experiences and musical influences, all the while being consistent enough to be recognized as the one and only Eclectic Approach.
