Takin’ It Back Tuesday: Blackalicious - “Deception”


“Deception” is off the Nia album, released by Quannum Projects in 1999. Gift Of Gab and Chief Xcel of Blackalicious were two of the original members of Solesides (founded in 1991), which evolved into Quannum Projects around 1997. Blackalicious will be at The Crocodile this Thursday, August 21 with Black Stax, Justis, and DJ Seabefore. Co-founders and label-mates Lateef and Lyrics Born of Latyrx are also on tour and arrive in Seattle on September 11 to perform at Nectar Lounge with Nightcappers and Project Lionheart. -  Liz

New Music: Captain Murphy - “Cosplay”

The creation of the alter ego of Flying Lotus, Captain Murphy, was recently revealed in the animated video, “The Birth Of Captain Murphy.” It’s great to see people doing interesting things like this with their music.

His new single “Cosplay” will be available for free download on the Adult Swim website on Monday, August 16. Keep an eye out for Flying Lotus’ new album, “You’re Dead,” which is to be released on October 7. He will be performing at The Neptune Theater with Thundercat on November 18. - Liz
